Cluster Manager – Northern Adelaide Plains Food Cluster   

The Northern Adelaide Plains Food Region is a premium food production area in South Australia.  The industry has a solid foundation, but growers expressed a desire to see a greater focus on collaboration and growth: that’s where the Northern Adelaide Plains Food Cluster comes in.

The Cluster is an industry-led organisation that is driving the strategic direction for the Northern Adelaide Plains with a focus on increasing profitability and sustainability for local businesses. A formal Governing Council was established in November 2018 following extensive consultation amongst stakeholders. The structure of the cluster Governing Council includes industry, industry associations, government representatives, universities and training organisations.

We are seeking a Cluster Manager to hold a key role in assisting and driving the strategic direction for the Northern Adelaide Plains Food Cluster and the region with a focus on increasing profitability and sustainability for local businesses.  The Cluster Manager will work with a number of different food industries in the region both north and south of the Gawler River.  This is an opportunity to drive the next stage of cluster development and make a real difference for the Northern Adelaide Plains stakeholders.

We envisage that the Cluster Manager will assist in the following key areas:

  • Engaging closely with regional industry, to support and provide business advice.  
  • Improving regional profile, appearance and infrastructure, collaborating with major stakeholders at a local, state and federal level.
  • Developing export capability and regional export markets, assisting and encouraging small and medium businesses to engage in export.
  • Engage with employment, recruitment, and training organisations including Government representatives to support and drive a regional labour plan including workforce development strategies.
  • Work with Industry service providers to drive group purchasing opportunities for Cluster Members.
  • Lead innovative thinking and an appetite for innovation
  • Connecting with other industry associations and/or clusters to meet industry needs and economic demands in a strategic and planning capacity.    
  • Provide support to industry and/or the Cluster in obtaining grants and/or government incentives linked to economic growth strategies.
  • Drive communication & marketing activities including web site & social media updates.
